About me

A wee bit about me...

A selfie of me, a white woman with long hair, standing in a forest. I am wearing a black jacket and a beanie hat with a logo for the Kielder Observatory.

My name is Marie-Thérèse (my pronouns are she/her) and I am a qualified humanistic counsellor and psychotherapist practicing in Scotland and online. I originally trained in what is known as the person-centred approach, before going on to specialise as a grief counsellor with CRUSE Scotland Bereavement Support

Over the years, my therapeutic approach has developed into being more integrative and collaborative. You can learn more about my therapy practice and services at my therapy page.

Prior to retraining as a psychotherapist, I worked in the higher education sector and, before that, in the criminal justice system as a support worker in employment and training.

I have spent most of my life actively involved in grassroots activism - primarily social and climate justice - alongside volunteering for organisations such as The Equality Network, Waverley Care, Scottish Detainee Visitors, and The Welcoming.

I offer you this background to emphasize my commitment to offering a non-judgemental space, valuing each individual, whilst also being mindful of the wider cultural, social, and political contexts that impact on our lives.

These values, along with my life experience, is what led me to train as a counsellor. I find this work meaningful and nourishing, and I am deeply grateful for the people who allow me to walk alongside them in our work together.
